Glocademia in Practice Working Group

Glocademia in Practice

GLOCADEMIA (noun): A global community of academics who explore and challenge traditional ways of knowing through a critical, decolonial, and inter-epistemic approach to academic identity and knowledge co-creation.

About Our Working Group

The Glocademia in Practice Working Group is an international collaboration co-organized by Manuela Wagner, professor of literatures, cultures, and languages at UConn, and Manuela Guilherme, researcher at the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra in Portugal.

Our work applies the Glocademia matrix (Guilherme, 2022) — an interdisciplinary, decolonial framework for plurilinagualism and interculturality — to critical pedagogies in education, research, and service activities. We recently secured a book contract with Springer Nature to publish outcomes from this collaboration from 2023-2025. The group also includes several sub-groups focused on smaller, co-created projects.
